Ludus Gravis is a double bass ensemble committed to contemporary music performances. It came to life after the encounter between Stefano Scodanibbio and Daniele Roccato and made its debut at Auditorio Nacional de Madrid in March 2010. Notwithstanding its recent formation, the ensemble already took part in international festivals, such as La Biennale di Venezia, Musica D’Hoy (Madrid), Rassegna di Nuova Musica (Macerata – Italy), AngelicA (Bologna – Italy), Imago Dei (Krems – Wien), Music of Changes (Klaipeda – Lithuania), Gaida (Vilnius – Lithuania), Unicum (Ljubljana – Slovenia) Borealis (Bergen – Norway), Vinterfestuka(Narvik – Norway), Ad Lucem Introvert Art Festival (Riga – Latvia), Suså Festival (Naestved – Denmark), Lux Aeterna (Hamburg – Germany), VI Ciclo de Conciertos de Mùsica Contemporànea (Bilbao – Spain), Fundaciòn BBVA (Madrid).

It made radio recordings for Rai RadioTreSky ARTEand a CD by WERGO.
Ludus Gravis is currently working on a new album for ECM label, due out in 2016.
It has worked closely with Terry Riley, Hans Werner Henze, Sofia Gubaidulina, Julio Estrada and collaborates with writer, playwright and actor Vitaliano Trevisan.
